IK Sirius has seen its previously unbeatable form collapse following the sale of star striker Robbie Ure. Since the Scottish forward was sold to Sevilla for a club-record fee on August 11, the Uppsala-based team has lost three consecutive Allsvenskan matches.
Despite the recent slump, Sirius still sits top of Allsvenskan with 45 points from 20 games. They have 14 wins, three draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of +21. The team holds a seven-point lead over second-placed Djurgårdens IF.
Robbie Ure's departure has proven to be a major blow to Sirius's attack. The 22-year-old Scot, a product of the Rangers academy, had scored 15 goals in his first 15 games of the 2026 Allsvenskan season. His sale to Sevilla came just as Sirius held a double-digit points lead at the top of the table.
Immediately after the sale, Sirius fell to Mjällby. They were even 3-0 up after 34 minutes but ultimately lost 4-3. This was followed by a 3-0 home loss to Häcken and a 1-0 home defeat to Malmö on August 31. A 1-0 away win at Västerås, coupled with Hammarby dropping points, has provided slight relief.
Sirius's recruitment policy is clear: identify young talents, buy low, and sell relatively high. This strategy is partly driven by data. The team's starting eleven has one of the youngest age profiles in Sweden and among top-flight teams in Europe.
Ure was a perfect example. He arrived from Anderlecht's reserves in March 2025 on a four-year deal and scored 11 goals in 30 league games last season. His explosion this year made the sale inevitable. "No Scotsman, no party?" Ure said. Now, manager Andreas Engelmark must find solutions without his top scorer. The team's squad list shows the available options.
Andreas Engelmark, 42, is steering Sirius through this turbulent period. He was born in Pakistan and adopted by a Swedish couple. Engelmark's coaching career began early as a youth coach at Brommapojkarna, where he worked with players like Viktor Gyökeres and Dejan Kulusevski.
He then spent years in MLS with Columbus Crew before returning to Brommapojkarna. Engelmark joined Sirius last year and has been the architect behind the team's surprising success. His ability to develop young players will be tested now.
Sirius's next challenge is a home fixture against Degerfors IF on September 14. Degerfors sits 14th in the table, as seen in our standings. It's an important opportunity for Sirius to break their negative streak and regain confidence.
The team's upcoming schedule, available on our fixtures page, will be vital for maintaining their lead. Sirius must also manage the absence of the currently sidelined Matthias Nartey. A win against Degerfors would set Sirius on the right course for the season's final run-in.
