Sirius have secured a key player for the future by extending Isak Bjerkebo's contract. The striker has signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2030, according to a press statement.

The club confirmed the news on Thursday, putting an end to speculation about a potential sale. Bjerkebo, who joined Sirius from Varbergs BoIS ahead of last season, has been a decisive factor in the team's strong campaign. He is currently third in the Allsventan scoring chart with 13 goals.

The loss of top scorer Robbie Ure to Sevilla earlier this year created a significant void in the attack. Ure had scored 15 goals before his departure. Securing Bjerkebo on a long-term basis now is a strategic victory for the sporting directors. The team, despite three consecutive league losses, still holds a comfortable lead at the top of the Allsvenskan table. Sirius are first with 42 points from 19 games, six points clear of second-placed Hammarby FF.

Head coach Jonathan Ederström expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. "Isak has had a fantastic season so far and has contributed strongly to our fine results this year," said Ederström. "That has of course led to significant interest, but despite being surrounded by rumours he has always been clear with us that he is very happy at Sirius and that it would take something very special for him to want to leave."

Sirius's form has taken a downturn with three straight losses, but the team's overall season statistics remain impressive. They have scored 47 goals and conceded 27, giving them a goal difference of +20. Bjerkebo's goal contributions have been a central part of that offensive strength. The team is currently without Matthias Nartey and Otso Liimatta due to injuries, making Bjerkebo's presence even more critical.

The striker himself is pleased with the decision to stay. "It feels really fun. I am very grateful to receive this trust from the club," Isak Bjerkebo said in the press release. "I feel that I am not finished here yet and that I have more to prove with the team, so it's just fun."

With Bjerkebo secured, the team can focus fully on turning around their negative form. The next match is a home game against Degerfors IF on September 14. Degerfors are in fourteenth place in the table. To maintain their lead at the top, Sirius need to rediscover their winning ways, and a fit and motivated Bjerkebo is key to that. The contract extension also gives the club's management greater security when planning for future squad seasons. Sirius have shown they can retain their most important talents despite interest from bigger leagues. The team's current standings as league leaders show the success of this strategy. Isak Bjerkebo will be a Sirius player until the summer of 2030.
