Sirius secured an important 2-1 away win against Örgryte IS on Saturday evening. The victory means the Uppsala-based side maintains its lead at the top of the Allsvenskan table with 51 points from 22 matches.
Striker Henrik Rönnlöf Castegren got things started with a headed goal from an Isak Bjerkebo cross. Sirius increased the pressure and added a second goal just after the hour mark. Örgryte got a late consolation through Sebastian Lagerlund, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.
"It feels so typical for a bottom team to put in a very good performance against a league leader and still get nothing," said Martin Andersson after the match. Sirius have now won four of their last five league games and are unbeaten in that run. The team has an impressive goal difference of +24 with 52 goals scored.
With the win, Sirius increases the pressure on the chasing pack at the top. The team now looks ahead to its next challenge, an away fixture against Gais.
Sirius continues to show strong form heading into the final part of the season.
